Parks and Recreation Program Coordinator - Posted Tuesday, December 15, 2015

The City of Ravenna is seeking experienced Parks and Recreation Program Coordinator

Pay Range:  $17.99 - $22.84 per hour

Description of Work:

The Parks and Recreation Program Coordinator shall, under direction of the Director, assist in the creation, marketing, registration and implementation of programs, sports and activities and events in the Parks and recreation Department. This position will be specifically focused on the Sporting Activities such as Basketball, Soccer, Tennis, Softball and Youth Summer Camps.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manages contract staff. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the contractors and contractor programs. Responsibilities include interviewing, recommending, and training (as needed) contract staff; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Major Duties:

  • Assist in preparation and execution of the annual program of recreational activities, with the planning and coordination of a wide variety of infant to senior adult recreation programs, sports and community special events,
  • Prepares and presents financial, activity, attendance, maintenance and other reports and inventory supplies.
  • Develops and administers program of public relations and obtains sponsorships,
  • Recruits, interviews, plans, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates space for programs, contractors and volunteers for programs coordinating.
  • Evaluates participant, parent/guardian, and instructor/coach surveys regarding program effectiveness.
  • Teach programs as assigned.
  • Maintains working relationship with other governmental and civic organizations.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university, college or equivalent educational institution with emphasis on Recreation, or a substantially related field desired.
  • Working knowledge of computer system functions. Knowledge of modern office procedures. Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from computer.
  • Ability to establish and maintain confidential information as well as cooperative relationships with other employees. Ability to successfully interact with all levels and types of customers. Excellent public relations skills.
  • Certification as Certified Park and Recreation Professional preferred
  • Possess and maintain current CPR and AED certification, First Aid preferred.
  • Must possess a valid State of Ohio driver’s license.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.

Water Treatment Plant Superintendent - Posted Friday, November 20, 2015

The City of Ravenna is seeking experienced Water Treatment Plant Superintendent

Pay Range:  $58,744 to $75,000 /year

Description of Work:

The Water Treatment Plant Superintendent shall control, equip and manage the operations of a six (6) million gallon surface water treatment plant for the City.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manages subordinate supervisor(s) and supervises staff. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Department. Serves as the Operator of record with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, recommending, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; reward and discipline of employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Major Duties:

  • Plans and directs the operations, maintenance, and daily activities of the City’s Water Treatment Plant.
  • Responsible for the environmental protection of Lake Hodgson, Dam and the seven (7) mile feeder canal.
  • Prepares, documents and distributes Monthly Operating Reports (MOR’s) to the Ohio EPA regarding Plant Operations.
  • Responsible for maintaining the City’s water storage tanks to ensure water turnover and the integrity of the storage tank.
  • Directs preparation and execution of the annual preventative maintenance program.
  • Prepares and administers operating and capital improvement budget requests.
  • Updates and maintains department operating procedures as required.
  • Prepares and submits annual and specific program budget estimates of income and expenses.
  • Researches, applies for and administers grants.
  • Attends Council meeting and Boards and Commissions meetings as needed
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Class IV Water Treatment License, issued by the Ohio EPA, preferred, or possession of a Class III License with the ability to obtain a Class IV License within 24 months.
  • Five (5) years experience in a Water Treatment Plant, and/or Bachelor’s Degree in Management; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of SCADA operations and systems strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of computer system functions, knowledge of modern office procedures, Ability to access, input and retrieves information from computer. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Must possess a valid State of Ohio driver’s license.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Preferred demonstrated experience in writing, obtaining, and administering grants.

The City of Ravenna is seeking experienced Part-Time Dispatchers

Pay Range:  $14.98 - $19.22 per hour

This part time position may work up to twenty-four (24) hours per week, with a flexible schedule.  The selected candidate may work holidays, weekends, and all shifts to meet departmental needs.

Qualified applicants should meet the following:

  • Must present a copy of a valid license and a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age and a U.S. Citizen
  • No felony convictions of crimes.
  • Must successfully pass psychological exam, background check, polygraph test and drug screening.
