The City of Ravenna will be hiring Seasonal Leaf Raking Personnel for it's annual leaf pickup program.  This is approximately a six (6) to eight (8) week long season starting on Monday, October 24th, 2016. 

  • Work hours are from 7:30am to 4:00pm Monday - Friday.
  • The rate of pay is $10.00/hour.

Street Worker - Full Time - Posted Friday, July 22, 2016

The City of Ravenna is accepting applications for the following position:

JOB TITLE:  Service Worker, Water Service Worker
DEPARTMENT:  Street
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:  Assistant Street Superintendent
POSITIONS SUPERVISED:   None
STATUS:  Full-Time, Non-Exempt, Bargaining Unit

Starting Pay Rate:  $18.48 per hour

Description of Work:

Performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance work and operates a variety of equipment in the construction and upkeep of city streets and facilities, including the operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of street, road, and storm drainage facilities and systems.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs various duties on construction projects which include clean and repair facilities, streets, roads, sewers, ditches, signs, and sidewalks.
  • Performs basic preventative maintenance and repair of city streets and storm drainage systems and the operation of equipment requiring highly skilled manipulation of controls and attachments in maneuvering for safe and efficient special purpose operations.
  • Participates in work crew activity or the work of other equipment operators
  • Efficiently operates City vehicles and equipment, consistent with safety and security standards, including plow/dump trucks, backhoes, heavy roller, tractors, sewer jet and vacuum.
  • Safely performs the following duties; transport materials, tow a trailer and leaf machine, plow snow, remove ice, spread salt and salt brine, mow grass, trim and chip branches, dig ditches, slope banks, set stone sewer pipes and culverts, dig out curbs, and excavate streets.
  • Makes daily inspection of assigned equipment and reports major maintenance needs and mechanical problems.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public.
  • Interact politely with those encountered in the course of the work, including pub lic officials, and the general public.
  • Ability to work steadily and quickly.
  • Periodic overtime work.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED), and three (3) to five (5) years related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, general business periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  Ability to recognize potentially unsafe conditions and behaviors and correct them in a positive and appropriate manner.
  • Must possess a valid State of Ohio Commercial Drivers];s License (CDL) Class ‘A’ with Air Brakes and an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Part-Time Dispatcher - Posted Tuesday, June 10, 2014

The City of Ravenna is seeking experienced Part-Time Dispatchers

Pay Range:  $14.98 - $19.22 per hour

Deadline to apply:  Until position is filled.

This part time position may work up to twenty-four (24) hours per week, with a flexible schedule.  The selected candidate may work holidays, weekends, and all shifts to meet departmental needs.

Qualified applicants should meet the following:

  • Must present a copy of a valid license and a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age and a U.S. Citizen
  • No felony convictions of crimes.
  • Must successfully pass psychological exam, background check, polygraph test and drug screening.

 This is a part-time, FLSA non-exempt, non-bargaining unit, unclassified position.
