One of the great strengths of our Community is its location.  This holds true in access to advanced education, access to health care, manufacturing, transportation, and of course recreational opportunities!

Ravenna has three main parks within the City Limits.  Havre's Woods Park, The John Tontimonia City Park and the Children's Park on North Chestnut St. offer activites for all ages.  The adjacent Portage Park District expands these parks offerings with several beatiful parks and nature preserves just minutes from downtown Ravenna.

Just a short 10 minute drive brings you to West Branch State Park. This state park abounds with activites such as boating, fishing, hiking, biking, and hunting.  A recent makeover of the camping facilities make West Branch one of the premier camping destinations in Ohio.  For winter enthusiasts the park boasts extenstive snowmobile trails, cross country skiing, and ice fishing.

A short 35 minute drive takes visitors to one of the National Park System's best kept secrets. The Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area stretches from Akron to Cleveland along the Cuyahoga River and is home to some of the most breath taking scenery in Ohio.  The park also is home to countless recreational opportunities such as hiking, biking, cross country skiing, and sled riding.  For photography enthusiasts this park was recently ranked in the top 25 locations for nature photography by Outdoor Photographer Magazine.

For golf fans, Ravenna is home to Windmill Lakes Golf Club.  Consistently ranked as one of the best courses in Ohio, Windmill Lakes' undulating greens and more than 40 sand traps and seven lakes has hosted numerous amateur and professional events.

Hikers and Bikers will find the Portage Hike and Bike Trail running right through the heart of Ravenna.  This well maintained trail, which is paved in many areas, connects the communities of Ravenna, Kent and Kent State University to the 32 mile Metroparks Trail in Summit County.

Sports fans will delight in the many offerings just minutes away from Ravenna.  Nearby Kent State University has a rich sports program ranging from basketball, to football, to gymnastics to name a few.  The Akron Aeros, the Cleveland Indian's double 'A' affiliate team, can be seen in action a mere 20 minute drive from Ravenna.  And of course a 45 minute drive to Cleveland allows you to enjoy a game with the Cleveland Browns, The Cleveland Indians, or the Cleveland Cavaliers.

For a more educational form of recreation there's the Akron Zoo (20 minutes away) or the Cleveland Zoo (45 minutes away).  Cleveland also is home to the Great Lakes Science Center and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  The Pro Football Hall of Fame is located a short drive south to Canton, Ohio.  All of these attractions are easily accessible due to Ravenna's close proximity to several major interstate highways.

These are but a small sampling of the many recreation opportunites easily accessible from our community.  Again, our location ... centered in northeast Ohio ... is one of our greatest strengths.
