Parks & Recreation

The Ravenna Parks and Recreation Department is committed to providing a variety of safe, affordable, entertaining and educational activities as well as creating and preserving facilities which will enhance the quality of life for our community members, now and for future generations that follow.

Diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, osteoporosis, depression, obesity, cancer, arthritis... the list goes on; a list that can be significantly improved or totally prevented through a healthier lifestyle that includes regular exercise. Everyday we hear the stats, yet everyday many of us choose to ignore them.  We can't begin to relay how great it feels to actually hear from a participant that they have improved their health in some way. We hear, on a regular basis, how participation has lowered cholesterol, improved bone density, eliminated dependency on medication, or just reduced their weight. The participant is delighted and so are we! Please join us and make this the healthiest year ever!

Marlene Watt Memorial Event

Saturday, June 20, 2015

Sponsors: City of Ravenna  ~  Portage Community Bank  ~  Hometown Bank

Join us for the 12th annual Marlene Watt Memorial Event which consists of two different events for the whole family. One will be a 2 mile run/walk while the other is a 5k. We will start and end both events at the Ravenna High School campus (6589 North Chestnut Street; Ravenna, OH 44266) and use Ravenna's portion of the wonderful Portage Hike and Bike Trail as our course.

All proceeds from the Marlene Watt Memorial Event will go towards the Ravenna Parks and Recreation Youth Scholarship Fund as in past years. Since the inception of the Ravenna Parks and Recreation Youth Scholarship Fund many young individuals in the Ravenna community have benefited from this program. These youths are able to participate in parks and recreation activities because of the scholarship fund.

So pick an event or choose both and join us in this year's Marlene Watt Memorial Event!  Online and in person registration coming soon.
