Recycling for Residents
This program accepts glass, cans, #1 and #2 plastic, and most paper products. To maximize results and keep costs as low as possible, we ask everyone to participate. the cost is $4.00/month, charged on your water bill. You should have 2 green recycling bins for taking items to the curb. To receive these bins, or for instructions and a schedule, call 330-296-6326.
Want to save money?
The City does not provide trash collection. You must choose your own company. This office can provide a list of available haulers upon request.
When you recycle, you make less trash, so you probably won't need full service. To keep your trash costs down, ask your hauler for "volume billing" or a "bag program". Then, always fill the bags or cans before you set them out. The more you recycle, the less you discard, the more you save!
What about yard waste?
The Ravenna Street Department collects brush, leaves and grass clippings from the curb on Mondays and Tuesdays. These materials are processed into wood chip mulch and compost
which is given free to Ravenna City residents at advertised times. Call 330-296-6326 for details.
The City also provides paper yard waste bags for grass clippings. You can obtain these bags at the Service Director's Office located at 210 Park Way.
Is Recycling really worth while?
Every month, Ravenna recycles about 60 tons of material. About 45 tons are paper products. According to EPA statistics, every ton of paper recycled saves 17 trees, so Ravenna saves over 750 trees per month. We also prevent 2,000 tons of yard waste from going to landfills annually. Please contribute.
Together we can make a difference !!!
