Health Department - Safe Communities

The Ravenna Safe Communities Program is made possible through grant funds from the Ohio Department of Public Safety.   The program is administered through the Health Department by Mayor Kevin Poland and Health Director Lynette Blasiman.

Starting in 2005 the Ravenna Program assumed the responsibility of serving all of Portage County and will change its name to "Portage County Safe Communities".

Our Mission :
To develop and implement traffic safety programs based on identifiable data in order to ensure the reduction of injuries and deaths to the citizens of Ravenna and Portage County and to everyone using our streets and Highways.

Our goals:

  1. Reduce injury and fatal crashes in Portage County
  2. Increase Safety Belt usage in our community
  3. Reduce alcohol related crashes in Portage County
  4. Educate our citizens in the proper use of child safety seats
  5. Target youthful drivers through enforcement and education
