Ravenna Police Department - Patrol Division

The Ravenna City Police Department patrol division is comprised of 21 highly trained road officers who are responsible for keeping our roadways safe and protecting the public. On average, our officers answer approximately 1700 calls for service each month. These calls range from lockouts and barking dog complaints to buglaries, robberies, assaults, and homicides. Regardless of the need, our officers are here to serve the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Technology plays an increasing roll in law enforcement today, and our officers are equipped with some of the latest technology available. Each vehicle is equipped with a Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) which allows our Communications Center to communicate silently with each officer, to dispatch officers electronically, and allows officers to access a wealth of information from in-house, state, and national databases. A robust mapping application plots each and every call on an electronic map and also tracks each officer's location. This greatly enhances response times in that the Communications Officer always knows which officer is closest to a call.

As with any municipality, illegal drug activity is a major concern. Such activity always seems to spawn other criminal activity such as theft, burglary, robbery and assaults. Control the drug activity and the overall crime rate drops. Recognizing this, the Ravenna Police Department belongs to the Western Portage Drug Task Force and our officers work closely with Task Force agents, diligently working to reduce drug activity within the City.

Another focus is keeping our roadways safe by apprehending impaired drivers under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. We have a ZERO tolerance policy for impaired driving within our City and we actively look for impaired drivers during routine patrols. To aid in our success in this area, our officers all receive advanced training in detecting impaired drivers and our DUI arrest rates are consistently among the highest in the County.

We exist on the authority of the citizens and are here to "serve and protect" those citizens. It's a responsibility we take very seriously.

If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact us at 330-296-6486.
